The Bornatty Experience!!

With vivid colors and extreme style, and multicultural influences Bornatty’s fashion line is a true one of a kind. I was pleasantly surprised to get the invitation to the Charity Event to benefit the homeless. What a fabulous show… I sat near an American and an African attendee, just where I seem to always fine myself. The Oooo and Ahhh were the same, everyone saw something to love. The Swag level had me wanting to grab a Lion Jacket for my own husband. It’s not every woman that can dress international men as well as women.

BORNATTY, wise designer Martone Evans is a soft spoken Caribbean woman based here in the Triangle area. She has infused her Island heritage in this amazing collection presented in this show. I was impressed by not only the fashion but the other elements of the show. The musicians, Poets, and Models were a series of the who’s who of Raleigh. People like Bubsy Millions performed, the most popular Models like Brandi Crenshaw, Purusha Jones were graciously wearing the designs

I stole a few shots with a couple of my favorite people in the crowd. I even went home with my own Bornatty Dress designed for women of my body style pictured here.

Hurricane Matthew Aftermath

Its been a troubling week in America with hurricane Matthew passing through the East coast, the Election candidates being less than ideal and the ongoing discussion of police brutality. I found it particularly sobering to watch the news and see how all of our differences can be washed away. We can't help but recognize the benefits of being American, when faced with the comparison of the effects of the hurricane against our neighbors. Varying number have been reported from Haiti giving the death toll between 800-900 people. In the U.S we have had just a 10th of this number lost to flood waters. A still staggering number given consideration to the infrastructures, weather warning, and evacuations meant to protect people and avoid such casualties. Each life is precious and while we work to reconstruct homes, reopen schools, and return to our normal lives, it's my hope that we also turn down the noisy radio static of conflict within our communities. African artist recent visit to Raleigh

In March I was invited to attend an event entitled an African Experience. When I heard it would be held at a local park I imagined a fun filled family event. Since the flyer showcased things like African attire and mentioned food. I was more than anxious to see what the agenda was for the day. I have attended many African events but they were usually traditional or family occasions. I am familiar with the food, culture and I'm a big fan of the music. So, I put on one of my new African outfits and recruited some teenagers to be volunteers for the event. Cooking Stew and Curry Chicken w/ Triangle FLAVA

Making this video was soo much fun and I couldn't think of a better person to kick of this series with. I decided that since I am so lucky to have so many friends from around the world, I would let them show me how to make my favorites. I didn't waste time getting a baby sitters or are a studio because cooking is for the family. I have a big one!! So please excuse the noise you hear every now and then. No worries they were happy with the food too A few if the ingredient needed are Garlic ( fresh if you have it) Onion Curry Powder Brown Sugar Chicken ( which ever parts you like) we used wings Puree Onions, pepper and Garlic to make Puree to Marinate the chicken and wash with lime Oil and lots od tastey seasonings. I think I will continue to let My Trini mom prepare this Dish for me but if you don't have one. You are more than welcome to watch mine or even Order one of her Make Ahead dishes!!! I'm Ready I got my Bowl !!!
